ABOUT THE ARTIST

She writes, β€œIn the American South West I discovered my love of bold color contrast: the brilliant blue skies against red and ochre rocks, vistas that were bathed in sunlight, the desert feeling of quiet space, a stillness that became meditative. My art was filled with jewel like tones and colors. I revisited the South West to learn more.

These brilliant jewel like colours were also found in the medieval icons which I loved to imitate at The Cleveland Museum of Art or the Chiesas in Florence or the Cathedrals in Europe. I sketched Padernal Mountain at Sunrise! -like the colors of a stained glass window.”

In Retirement from teaching Jeannette could concentrate more on a sustained painting practice. In 2019 she rented a Studio Space which allowed for time and place to make a series of paintings.
