abstract Impressionist fine art
My art is an expression of my inspiration from color, nature and light.
Jeannette has wanted to be an artist since a high school course opened up the joy of using her natural creative gifts in the visual arts.
Her realization that she could share this joy with others by teaching art led her to take an Bachelor of Arts Education Degree from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which led to various teaching positions. In 2014, Jeannette retired after 25 years of teaching Secondary School, in Toronto, Ontario. In Retirement she had the opportunity to create a personal studio space, to paint full time, exhibit and sell her art.
Having been raised in the city of The Hague, the Netherlands, Jeannette learned about Rembrandt, Vincent Van Gogh, Vermeer, who continue to influence her style and personal aesthetic. In 1963 her family immigrated to the USA and settled in Cleveland, Ohio where the Cleveland Museum of Art, (and the Cleveland Orchestra) continued to fulfill the desire for beauty, culture and art. The Medieval collection at the CMA has been a lasting influence on her sense of color and design.
